In order to obtain a license in cosmetology, nail technology, esthetics, or barbering in the state of Minnesota, students must complete the requirements listed below. Please contact the Minnesota Board of Cosmetology for more information.
Requirements
COSMETOLOGIST: 1550 hours
ESTHETICS: 600 hours
NAIL TECHNICIAN: 350 hours

Additional Requirements
An applicant must have at least a twelfth grade education or a G.E.D. Electrology is not licensed by the State but may be regulated by the local municipality. Reciprocity may be granted to currently licensed applicants who pass the Minnesota Board Exam and who have at least 1800 hours of licensed experience within the last three years.
