In order to obtain a license in cosmetology, esthetics, nail technology, barbering, in the state of California, students must complete the requirements listed below. Please contact the California State Board of Barbering and Cosmetology for more information.
Requirements
COSMETOLOGIST: 1600 hours
ESTHETICIAN: 600 hours
MANICURIST: 400 hours
BARBER: 1500 hours
Reciprocity
No reciprocity available. Applicants must take written and practical exam. In the case of barbers, Barbers have to take both a written and a practical examination, however, barber instructors require only a written exam.
